SOUTHBURY – Crews from several towns responded to a fire on Berkshire Road Thursday afternoon, closing that road for several hours.

The Oxford fire department responded as mutual aid. The Southbury Fire Captain tweeted that additional tankers were needed and the fire expanded to brush.

The American Red Cross is helping two adults with emergency food, clothing and household needs after today’s fire.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a person might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.
