Man grabs engagement ring from Farmington jewelry store: Police

FARMINGTON – Police are looking for a man who they say stole an engagement ring from a jewelry store at Westfarms Mall.

Police said a man was looking at diamond engagement rings Monday evening at Kay Jewelers when he grabbed a ring and ran out of the store. Police said several people chased the suspect into the parking lot where they reported he pointed a small gun at them and escaped. Jewelry store employees said the suspect never showed or implied he had a weapon.

Police used dogs to search for the suspect but could not find anyone.

Police described  the suspect as a unshaven, white, or possibly Hispanic, male between 23-29 years old, 5’7”-5’9” tall, 150 pounds. They said he was wearing a black pull over jacket with a white or grey horizontal stripe across the chest with what appeared to be a half vertical zipper in the center of the chest. The suspect described as wearing dark colored jeans and red sneakers and a dark baseball cap with a red colored Red Sox “B” on it.

Police released a video of the suspect entering the mall in hopes that someone could identify the suspect. 

The also released a photo of a silver sedan they believe to be involved.
