MILWAUKEE — There have been plenty of stories of drivers blindly following their GPS devices into disaster. This latest case wasn’t disastrous, but is still labeled by many as a “fail.”
A tractor-trailer driver let the electronic voice lead him off the highway, down a bike path and onto a foot bridge.
The guy didn’t stop until he wedged the truck cab between two concrete posts at the entrance to a second bridge.
Locals told reporters that it was a good thing the truck got stuck and couldn’t go any farther; the second bridge was closed to traffic back in the 1960s because the supports weren’t strong enough.
The driver was fined $580 for reckless driving and failure to obey signs. The truck was removed several hour later.
