A new subversive crime drama is coming to Fox in 2015, thanks to Hart Hanson of Bones, who created and executive-produced the show. Backstrom is an offbeat crime procedural that follows Detective Everett Backstrom, played by three-time Emmy Award nominee Rainn Wilson (The Office), an unhealthy, offensive, irascible, yet brilliant, detective who is brought back from exile to run the Portland Police Bureau’s Special Crimes Unit (S.C.U.).
Tasked with navigating the city’s most sensitive and serious cases, he must solve each crime as he tries, and fails, to change his own self-destructive behavior. Think House meets CSI, and you’ve got Backstrom gold. Also starring Page Kennedy (Blue Mountain State), Kristoffer Polaha (North Shore), Dennis Haysbert (24), Beatrice Rosen (The Dark Knight), Thomas Dekker (Heroes), and newcomer Genevieve Angelson.
