NEW HAVEN- Emergency crews responded to a building fully engulfed in flames on Church St. and Lafayette St.

The fire was reported around 4:30 a.m.  There are no reported injuries and officials tell us no one was inside at the time of the fire.

Since the building had no electricity or gas, the fire has been labelled suspicious by fire fighters.

Smoke from the fire was visible throughout the city.

No firefighters have been inside the building-- they are fighting the fire outside.

Firefighters are keeping people away from the scene just in case the building collapses. They are also keeping their eyes on a live power line that may fall as well.

The  Lafayette Street  was closed off.
