DERBY – Police released the content of the threat made that caused a school to be closed Monday.

A portion of the threat read “I’m bringing a gun and I’m blowing it (the school)up with a bomb” the note also listed some teachers and students by name.

On Wednesday, Derby police arrested a 13-year-old female in connection with Monday’s threat against Derby Middle School. The juvenile, an eighth  grade student at the middle school, was charged with one count of threatening and breach of peace.

She is due in Superior Court for Juvenile Matters in Waterbury on Thursday.

Officials are still investigating whether other students may have been involved.

Police also released the following statement:

The occurrence of bomb incidents or threats of violence can have a major impact on the targeted victims. The potential for serious injury and damage makes even an empty threat a very significant incident. Each threat must be taken seriously and acted upon immediately. The Derby Police Department will aggressively investigate any crime which intends to terrorize another person or in this case an entire community. This department is partnered with the Derby School District and committed to fostering a positive school climate free of violence and aggression.
