GREENPORT (PIX11)– New York State Police have cancelled an Amber Alert after a baby boy was allegedly abducted in Greenport Sunday evening.
Police say 3-month-old Steven Ristick was taken away near Fairview Avenue in Greenport at 10:47 p.m.
The suspect, Jonathan J. Lawrence, 21, broke into the home where the child was and took him, police say. He also allegedly assaulted the child’s grandfather.
Lawrence then took off in a blue Chrysler minivan with a Connecticut license plate, heading south toward Fairview Avenue, possibly heading for New Jersey, according to authorities.
The child has brown hair and brown eyes, police say. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeved white T-shirt, and a green shirt over that one that says ‘Daddy’s little sidekick’ and orange striped pants.
Lawrence is described by police as having brown hair and brown eyes, approximately 6-feet-1-inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing red and blue puffy down jacket and blue jogging pants. He also has a tattoo of ‘Canadien’ on his left arm, and tribal on right bicep.
