BRIDGEPORT- Police arrested a man who is accused of stabbing a pregnant woman on Saturday night, a day after she ended a relationship with him.
Police arrested 41-year-old Jose Velez at the apartment where the alleged attack occurred at 50 Pear Harbor Circle.
Authorities say 39-year old Frances Santos suffered from stab wounds to her back and neck. She was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where she is in serious condition.
According to a release, Santos was home at the time of the attack with her 8-year-old son when she heard someone breaking into her home. Police say Velez attacked Santo’s and stabbed her at least twice.
Velez has been charged with first degree assault, home invasion, risk of injury to a minor, second degree criminal mischief, first degree burglary and criminal attempt at murder. His bond was set at $500,000.
