NEW HAVEN — People across the country are planning a national walkout on Monday, and some of those protests may happen in Connecticut.
The movement has been called the #HandsUpWalkout on social media.
According to several twitter and tumblr accounts, protests are planned in more than 31 cities to show solidarity with the community of Ferguson, Mo., after the decision by a grand jury to not indict Officer Darren Wilson who shot and killed 18-year-old Michael Brown.
Protesters plan to walk out of work and school at 12:01 central time, the time Michael Brown was shot on August 9.
In Connecticut, walkouts are planned for the campuses of Yale, Wesleyan and University of New Haven.
Just this weekend, Wilson resigned from the Ferguson Police Department.
