Accidents up during the holiday weekend; State Police also issue more tickets than last year

MIDDLETOWN — Connecticut State Police release the final numbers for the holiday weekend, having issued over 5958 tickets, and making  52 DUI arrests, up from last year.

There was one fatal accident Wednesday in Norwalk and police investigated 934 accidents, with 97 of them resulting in injuries.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Speeding Arrests– 1106
  • Seatbelt Arrests– 314
  • Other hazardous moving violation arrests–3538

Last year police issued  1134 speeding tickets, 170 seatbelt tickets, 2548 hazardous moving violations and 43 DUI arrests. There were 562 accidents, 92 with injuries and one fatal accident last year during the same holiday weekend.
