STAMFORD – A man was arrested after police said he set fire to his own building.

Emergency crews responded to a fire at 52 Highland Rd Thursday at 12:40 p.m. for a report of a man pouring gasoline in the vestibule of an occupied building. Police said the stairway was soon in flames and the man was seen running away. The resident escaped from the front of the house.

Police said the fire department quickly put out the fire. As Sgt. Russell Gladwin saw a man walking on Highland Avenue. After police detained him, they identified him as Anthony Manousos, 33. Manousos was later found to be the owner of the building.

Manousos was charged with Arson and held on a $500,000 bond.

Police said no one was injured in the fire, but the dwelling sustained a large amount of heat and smoke damage.
