HARTFORD – The man convicted in the brutal 2012 murder of a Hartford bankteller was sentenced Thursday.

A judge gave Carl Small, 34, 60 years in prison for the murder of Christopher Donato and another 10 years for other charges.

Several members of the Donato family testified, one calling Small a monster.

Small was found guilty of fatally stabbing the 30-year-old at his Hartford apartment on Prospect Street before robbing him in June 2012.

Small fled the state after the crime and was captured in Pennsylvania.
