ENFIELD — After a 10-month long investigation, Enfield police say they have made some big arrests in a drug dealer round up.

Four of the suspects appeared court today.

Twenty-seven warrants were issued and 14 were arrested yesterday. Most of the suspects were held in custody overnight; some bonded out. Charges ranged from possession and sale of narcotics to motor vehicle offenses to assault charges and breach of peace.

Enfield’s police chief said this bust was accomplished by getting officers undercover, on the inside of a drug ring in the Thompsonville section of town. The drugs involved include cocaine and heroin.

Our camera was rolling as officers were loading the suspects into vans, and the chief says that part of this investigation centered around a bar and a motorcycle gang.

He says the ATF and DEA helped out in this investigation.

The suspects that appeared in court today face a slew of felony charges — the chief says these arrests were a major disruption to the local criminal element — and he says there’s more to come.
