Woman stabbed and sexually assaulted in Hartford, police search for suspect

HARTFORD- Police are searching for a male suspect after a woman was stabbed and sexually assaulted on Marshall Street early Sunday morning.

Detectives say they responded to the area of 27 Marshall Street on a report of a stabbing and sexual assault. Police say a female victim was found at the scene and had an apparent stab wound to her groin area.

The victim told police she was followed by a male suspect who reportedly grabbed her and dragged her into a basement laundry room in the rear of an apartment building and sexually assaulted her.

The woman was transported to Saint Francis Hospital where she underwent emergency surgery and is listed in stable condition, according to police.

Police describe the suspect as a 30-year old Hispanic or White male, with a scruffy beard, blue baseball cap, wearing black jeans, and a black hooded sweatshirt.
