The National Chanukah Menorah, the world’s largest menorah, was lit at a ceremony seen around the world Tuesday, December 16 at 4:00 PM, the first night of Chanukah. The 35th National Menorah Lighting took place on the White House Ellipse, with remarks by Vice President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. The ceremony and program featured performances by The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own”; The Three Cantors; Recording Artist Alex Clare; and Dreidelman and The Macabees.

The eight day celebration, also known as the Festival of Lights, commemorates the re-dedication of the second temple of Jerusalem.
