CHESHIRE -- The Cheshire community paying tribute to the teenager, who was shot and killed by his father,  in an apparent murder-suicide earlier this week.

Christopher Settembri, 18, was a life-long Cheshire resident and nearly everyone who spoke about him on Saturday said he knew how to make people laugh, and put a smile on the face of everyone he met.

"I think he's probably watching us, laughing and smiling," said Shay Brennan, a former student at Cheshire High School.

Chris Settembri graduated from Cheshire High School in June 2014 and was remembered Saturday night on the school's football field by hundreds of his former classmates and others.

To many, Chris was known as a funny and kind teen.

"He was a very funny person and always made someone's day. If you're having a bad day if you're feeling low in that moment," said  Briana.

Settembri transferred to Cheshire High in his senior year,  previously attending Wilcox Technical High School.

The family says he an avid skateboarder, snowboarder and loved to cook.

Many are still shock as to why his Chris' own father, 48 year old Christopher Settembri Sr.  allegedly used a shotgun to shoot him inside the family's home on Tuesday, before turning the gun on himself.

"We've definitely gone through a lot, it's been really hard for all of us," said  Brennan.

The Cheshire community has already been mourning after 19 year old Isabella Gozzo was killed in a car accident last weekend.

Gozzo was remebered in a similar vigil on the football field, now the second member of the 2014 graduating class to have their life cut short recently.

"At first finding out about Isabella then Chris-- it was like two shocks. Hhonestly the full force hasn't hit me and i don't think anyone honestly ," said  Brian Roberge,  a 2013 Cheshire High School graduate.

Now the Settembri family looks to pick up the pieces, as Chris leaves behind his mother and three younger sisters.

"His mom was here and his sisters were here and i think it def meant a lot to see how many people her son affected," said Roberge.

The funeral service for Chris will be take place during the same service as his father.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014, 12:15 pm from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire 615 S. Main St. to St. Thomas Beckett Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1pm.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours for family and friends will be held Monday, from 9am to 12pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting memorial donations to the Settembri Family in care of People's United Bank, 275 Highland Ave, Cheshire, CT 06410.
