MYSTIC - After Mystic author, Tish Rabe, penned more than 150 tales for tots, many stories about Clifford and Curious George, she wanted to create a signature character, all her own.
"I wrote a rhyming book about a dinosaur. Maurus O'Roarus was a brachiosaurus who had the best voice in the dinosaur chorus," explains the writer, whose idea was shut-down by Random House Publishing. But, she was offered the chance of a lifetime.
"Dr. Seuss had tried to do a set of rhyming children's books about science and died before he could finish the first one," explains Rabe. "So, I took over."
Forty "Cat in the Hat" books later, she is embarking on a new project, partnering with Reach Out and Read Connecticut to create unique mementos to benefit kids.
