Real Story: Tolls Making A Comeback?

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy says he plans to focus heavily on Connecticut’s transportation needs in the new year and is not ruling out tolls as a possible way to help foot the bill.

The Democrat said Monday the state has underinvested in its transportation system for two generations and a “mature and detailed discussion” is needed about how the state can improve transportation in Connecticut over the next 25 to 30 years.

Malloy said “tolls are a way to pay for it,” but added “there are other ways to pay for it.”

The new legislative session begins on Jan. 7, the same day Malloy will be sworn into office. The governor’s transportation proposals are expected to be unveiled later next year.
