UNION–State Police have identified the man who died in a car crash on Route 190 Monday night as Mark Sullivan, 51, of Somers.
At 10:25 p.m. police responded to reports of an accident about 1/2 mile from Szych Road. The pickup truck, a 1988 Chevy Silverado, went off the shoulder of Route 190 on the eastbound side down into a ravine. The road was closed for several hours.
Troopers found Sullivan, who was dead upon arrival, in the truck.
The investigation indicates this was a single-car crash with a single occupant, but that the crash did not kill the operator.
The office of the chief states medical examiner will conduct an autopsy into what caused Sullivan’s death, but there doesn’t seem to be a criminal element to the incident.
