MIDDLETOWN -- Around 30 kids ages 12 to18 participated in the Middletown Youth Bureau's 9th annual "White Out Night."

The students wore white t-shirts with messages encouraging people to drink responsibly and not get behind the wheel when drunk.

"There are people out there, there are kids on the road, me and my friends are driving, and there are other people," said Rachel Angle, a 16-year-old participant. "Just keep this happy time happy."

The teens walked around downtown passing out ribbons to people they met while holding signs up to make people aware of their cause.

"This is what we want these kids to be," said Felicia Goodwine-Vaughters of the Middletown Substance Abuse Prevention Council. "They're peer leaders at their school and now they're actually putting that to work being leaders in their community, reminding people to make healthy choices."
