Foleys Plead Guilty In Campaign Scheme Linked To Rowland

HARTFORD — Federal prosecutors are recommending a 10-month prison sentence for a former congressional candidate convicted in a scheme to hide consulting payments to former Connecticut Gov. John Rowland.

Lisa Wilson-Foley pleaded guilty in March to a single conspiracy count.

Prosecutors said she, her husband Brian Foley and Rowland in 2011 conspired to hide Rowland’s role in the campaign by creating a bogus contract that made it look like Rowland was being paid the $35,000 to provide services to Foley’s nursing home company.

Prosecutors are recommending probation for Brian Foley, who testified against Rowland. They have recommended Rowland serve more than three years in prison.

Rowland is to be sentenced on Jan. 7. Foley faces the judge on Jan. 9, and his wife is to be sentenced on Jan. 13.
