HARTFORD – Dozens of children used their last day of school vacation to celebrate Three Kings Day.

The children gathered celebrate the visit of the Maji to the newborn Jesus twelve days after his birth as written in the Bible. The event took place at Pope Park recreation center. ‘Los Reyes Magos’ is widely celebrated in Latino communities.

People dressed in period costume arrived on camels to the center where local children had gathered. Traditionally, families in Puerto Rico exchanged gifts on January 6th as well as on December 25th.

Hartford school children return to school on Wednesday.
