WEST HAVEN - The holidays are over but the the season is upon us, the American Idol season. The mics are turned up and so are the hopes for thousands of singers hoping to make it to the main stage in Los Angeles. Among those performers hoping to get their golden ticket punched for Hollywood is West Haven's Nick Fradiani.

Fradiani, a 28 year old  lifelong musician tried out at the Brooklyn casting call in the fall, and, this much is known, he makes it in to sing in front of the judges.

"It doesn't seem real when you walk in there, " Fradiani said, "but I'm singing up there, I'm comfortable and had fun with it."

Fradiani, a Guilford High School grad describes his style as pop/rock kind of sound, and is a fan of groups ranging from the Beatles to Matchbox 20.

Fradiani, who is also a guitarist in a band called "Beach Avenue" is no stranger to the big stage. Last year, he and his band were selected to perform on America's Got Talent, and made it to the live round in L.A.

"A year ago I would've laughed if you had said you are going to be on two major TV shows for your music, it's just crazy," Fradiani said.

Beach Avenue was eliminated from the west coast round of America's Got Talent but Nick's solo dream is alive.

"If I get a golden ticket, I know it will be a long process and it will be tough but hopefully Connecticut will get behind me." Nick's father, also named Nick and also a lifelong musician, said "I'm glad that maybe the world will get a chance to see just how talented he is."

American Idol airs on Wednesday and Thursday nights at 8 p.m. on Fox CT. Fradiani's tryout is slated to run on Thursday Jan. 15.
