Businesses evacuated after gas leak near Old State House in Hartford

HARTFORD – Emergency crews responded to a gas main break across from the Old State House Thursday morning.

The leak is believed to be in the building housing the Dunkin’ Donuts  at 57 Prospect St., part the Travelers Insurance complex. They are evacuating retail storefronts on the building but not the offices above.

The call came in at 9:25 a.m. Connecticut Natural Gas reported the leak to Hartford Fire.

CNG looking to see if there is a second leaking pipe in the building. Officials don’t expect that they will have to evacuate the Traveler’s headquarters building.
