Did you know just how popular Spanish food is in Connecticut?

Huffington Post and Yelp teamed up to find which cuisines are the most common in each state using restaurant listings on Yelp. Yelp calculated the percent of total restaurants each cuisine represented in a given state, and then compared that to the percent of representation nationwide.

In Connecticut there is a disproportionate amount of Spanish restaurants, meaning the percent of Spanish restaurants in the state is much greater than the percent of Spanish restaurants nationwide. In fact, there are 168 percent more Spanish restaurants in the state than the national average.

Southern cuisine was the most popular, with eight states–all in the Southeast–having a disproportionate amount of that type of food.

Some of the more surprising results showed that Portuguese foods is unusually popular in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Jersey, while Vietnamese is popular in Washington and Pakistani food is hot in Illinois.

The most obvious results? Tex-Mex was the most disproportionate food in Texas, while Hawaiian was in Hawaii.
