VERNON–A woman was assaulted by a man she knows in a multi-family home, according to Vernon Police.

Officers responded to an address on High Street on Thursday at 10:19 a.m. on reports of a sexual assault. The victim was taken to the hospital for injuries that weren’t life-threatening.

The suspect was found on Village Street in Rockville a short time later. Eric Allen, 25, of Vernon, was arrested and charged with sexual assault in the first degree, assault in the third degree, strangulation in the second degree, interfering with a 911 call, unlawful restraint and breach of peace.

The charges were categorized under domestic violence laws because the victim knew her assailant.

Allen was held on a $200,000 bond and is due in court on Friday. There was also an outstanding warrant for Allen’s arrest for failure to appear in the second degree, for which he was also charged. An additional $25,000 bond was levied for that charge.
