TERRYVILLE- A fire burned down a home in the Terryville section of Plymouth late last night.

Firefighters  responded to the house fire on South Main Street shortly before midnight.

The cold weather made fighting the fire more challenging.  Firefighters said the water turned into ice shortly after it hit the ground.

Thomaston Fire Department was also called to the scene to help with water supply because the hydrant was a half a mile away.

All of the residents  made it out safe but a dog and some birds were killed in the fire.

The house is a total loss. The Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
