SOUTH WINDSOR-- There is, no doubt, joy throughout New England with the news that the Patriots are headed back to the Super Bowl.
The phones are ringing at the call center of Ticket Network, where they say having the Patriots and the Seahawks in the the Super Bowl is a palatable match-up if you are in the ticket business. Jay Mullarkey, a vice president at Ticket Network, said, "Seattle and New England is an excellent Super Bowl because we're talking about both sides of the country."
Many tickets to the February spectacle remain available. Mullarkey added that the average price for a Super Bowl ticket, as of Tuesday, was $2,363. "If you want to sit in the upper sections," he said, "that cost in our exchange is now $1,820."
The added sizzle that the Patriots bring to the big game is also being heard from sports bars like Buffalo Wild Wings. Sarah Maggi Morin, owner of the Buffalo Wild Wings stores in Windsor, Wethersfield and Manchester, says she expects Super Bowl 49 to add an extra 10 percent to the bottom line due to the fact that the Patriots are playing.
"I think people are feeling more festive so they order a little more food." And, as for food, Buffalo Wild Wings has already begun to execute their game plan. "Between the three Buffalo Wild Wings I own, we're going to do over 50,000 wings," Morin said.
Morin advises people to place their wing orders early and says her staff is ready for game day. "For us it is all hands on deck," she said. "When the Pats go to the Super Bowl, it's such a big deal for us."
