HARTFORD – Following last week’s news that Radio Shack has filed for bankruptcy, the electronics chain is set to close almost half of its stores nationwide. In Connecticut, 24 stores will close in the next six weeks.
The chain, which had its peak in the 1970s with over 7,000 stores, will sell 1,500 to 2,400 stores to its largest shareholder, and has filed a motion to proceed with closing the remainder of its 4,000 U.S. stores by March 31.
