Partial building collapse in West Haven under investigation
WEST HAVEN – Construction crews were sent scrambling Monday after when a building they were working on partially collapsed. It happened at 22 Boston Post Road while construction crews were on scene.
The building is about 80 years old. According to the Planning and Zoning Commissioner, crews were working on the demolition of a loading dock on the building to begin converting it into apartment buildings. There are no reported injuries, and the city has shutdown the construction project until a structural engineer can deem it safe to continue.
The cause of the collapse is still being looked into, but so far, snow build up has been ruled out.
