MIDDLETOWN-- Movie making and Middletown--you don't hear those words in a sentence together too often. but over the past week both Middletown and Cromwell have been home to a Hollywood production.
The made-for-TV movie is called "Blue Line" and is described as an action/thriller. The draw of central Connecticut as a filming location stems from there being a number of producers, directors and crew members on set who come from Connecticut.
Producer David Gere, a Cromwell High grad, was one of the people instrumental in bringing a taste of Hollywood to his hometown. "When I took a look at it and I read the script," Gere commented, "I said we should go back to Connecticut with it."
One scene set in the area was a chase sequence on the grounds of Wild Bill's Nostalgia store.
Director and Greenwich resident Jacob Cooney noted that the movie is utilizing local talent for an array of roles in the film both on and off screen. "We love the area and it fits within the film," Cooney said. "I think people are excited to have a film shot here."
Gere added that his hope is that the production adds a buzz in the classrooms around Cromwell. "I hope there is a kid in town who raises his hand to his parents or his peers and says, I want to do that."
"Blue Line" is set to be released on pay services like Netflix and Redbox as early as December. The crew plans to wrap production on Friday.
