Police in Vernon and East Hartford investigate bank robberies

People’s Bank, Vernon

HARTFORD – Police in Vernon are searching for a suspect in a bank robbery that occurred Tuesday morning. Police said they responded to the People’s United Bank at Tri-City Plaza just before 11 a.m.

The suspect is described as a female who is 5’5″ tall, in her late 20s to early 30s and wearing a dark colored jacket and jeans. She handed the teller a note, demanded money, and ran away from the scene.

In East Hartford, police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at the United Bank inside the Shop Rite located at 31 Main Street just before noon.

The suspect is a female, about 20-30 years old wearing a dark color knit cap, sunglasses, and a Yankees jacket. She implied that she had a weapon and ran away with an undetermined amount of money.

There is no word yet if these two incidents are connected. If you have any information on either bank robbery, you’re asked to call police.
