HARTFORD-There is a new social awareness challenge that’s going viral on social media but instead of an ice bucket this time people are using an egg.
It’s called the “Diabetes Egg Crack on the Head Challenge” and it’s supposed to bring awareness to diabetes.
Several people have posted videos on Youtube cracking an egg on their foreheads including former UConn wide receiver and current Baltimore Raven’s wide receiver Gerrard Sheppard.
According to Buzzfeed, Will Hauver of Maryland started the challenge six months before he passed away from an illness.
Hauver posted a video with him cracking an egg on his head in response to the “ALS Ice Bucket Challenge” when it was viral.
Since his death, Hauver’s college and high school set up a scholarship fund in his name to keep his memory alive and spread awareness of diabetes.
