HARTFORD – It all started with a snow storm. Last month, students at Fitch High School in Groton were praying for a snow day and hoping  Fox CT Meteorologist Dan Amarante had the power to give it to them. Then, the tweets began. Dozens of high schoolers professed their love for Dan — and Dan tweeted back.

Eventually, Dan agreed to meet with his new admirers and speak with students about his career.  The event even had it’s own hashtag #DanTakesFitch.

Tuesday night, the tweets came again. The teens couldn’t wait for a visit from their new idol.

By Wednesday morning, the school was ready.

Then, Dan arrived.

And then came the selfies.

By days end, the admiration for Dan from the students at Fitch had reached a new level.

It’s safe to say Dan is now an honorary Fitch Falcon.
