HARTFORD–Parents marched on the Capitol on Wednesday in response to their children’s school being shut down due to contamination.
The parents demanded answers from Gov. Dan Malloy about the hazardous chemicals found at Clark Elementary School, especially regarding possible health side effects from the chemicals.
The chemicals were found during a construction project over winter break.
For now, students are attending various other schools for the rest of the school year, and possibly next year as well, but parents say they didn’t get to add any input in the matter.
The governor’s office says the state’s education department spoke with parents this afternoon and discussions are ongoing with Hartford’s superintendent.
