West Hartford man arrested for sexually assaulting a child

WEST HARTFORD – A man was arrested Saturday on charges related to the sexual assault of a minor.

Steven Contreras, 21 of West Hartford was arrested on first degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor, impairing the morals of a minor, unlawful restraint, strangulation, and threatening  charges.

He was held on $1.75 million bond but that was reduced to $250,000 during a court appearance Tuesday.

Because the case involved a juvenile, no other information was released by police.
