HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — We’ve got our very own Connecticut Idol!

During Hollywood Week on season 14 of “American Idol” Nick Fradiani, who hails from Guilford and currently lives in West Haven, sung “Babylon” by David Gray.

The judges loved his performance. “It’s clear how experienced you are, especially in comparison to some of the young ones,” Harry Connick Jr. said.

Jennifer Lopez was a bit more blunt about her adoration for the musician behind the performance. “I just like you,” she said, to which Nick quipped “Thank you, I like you too Jen.”

When he was called back on stage to find out if he made it through, he got the surprise of a lifetime, and in the hallway afterwards he said “I’m so shocked right now, I’m blown away that this is happening.”

Now Nick now moves on to the top 48, which is good because this was his last chance at “American Idol”–he’s 28, the oldest you can be to audition.

Last week during the group rounds Nick performed “Rude” by Magic! as part of “Team Dimples,” and him and his team found their harmony!

Unfortunately, Connecticut’s other singer to make Hollywood Week, James Killian Dunn, didn’t make it through to the top 48.
