Driver rescued after being pinned in Westport accident

WESTPORT – The driver of a tractor-trailer was extricated from the cab after an accident Tuesday morning.

The Westport Fire Department said the accident happened on I-95 North between Exit 18 and 19 shortly after 5 a.m.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWestport and Fairfield firefighters were able to remove the driver who was taken to Norwalk Hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

The fire department said two lanes of the road were shut down for about an hour.
