It’s cold outside, and AAA has tips on how to protect your car

HARTFORD–AAA has some tips on how to protect your car during this bitter cold spell.

Between 12:01 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday afternoon, the roadside repair service responded to about 4,200 calls–more than double the normal amount for an average winter day, according to Aaron Kupec from AAA.

Most of the calls were for dead batteries, and Kupec says to continuously check for corrosion; you want your battery to be clean.

Many of the other calls were for flat tires and frozen locks. However, if you have a frozen lock, Kupec says to NOT pour hot water on it because it will re-freeze.
