TRUMBULL--Before passing at the ripe old age of 75, a local Trumbull man lived a life that would make any man a hero. During the American Revolution, Nero Hawley fought in historic battles at Valley Forge and Monmouth, while serving under George Washington himself.

He did it, not only for his country, but for the freedom of his family. On this week's Hidden History, photojournalist Mike Townsend brings us the story of the slave in Washington's army.
