The state is introducing the
first mobile optimized site
designed to provide information on pharmacy operations, portable oxygen, and home medical supplies to the general public and to the State’s emergency Operations Center as part of an emergency response like a major storm.

The technology is a simple web-based, mobile optimized database. The pharmacies and oxygen supplies are entering their information into the database, and will update that information before and /or after an emergency, so that customers can find a store that is open and can meet their medication needs. It’s voluntary for pharmacies and oxygen providers to participate in this effort. Right now, pharmacies are still populating the database with their information. In the event of an emergency, the pharmacies will enter any new information, such as limited hours, operating without power, able/unable to do phone refills – whatever conditions they are experiencing.

Consumers who require oxygen, diabetic supplies, OTC medication or prescription medicine during or following a natural disaster or crisis can go to the website and search for open drug stores and oxygen suppliers.

They can search from wherever they are if their device’s geo-positioning function is on, or they can enter in a street address, town and zip code on their own. This will allow consumers to find a place to get the medication and supplies they need without having to call a dozen or more stores to find out who’s open.
