BRIDGEPORT – Emergency crews were on the scene of a fire that destroyed a multi-family home on Lindley Street for hours.

A two-story multi-family house was totally destroyed and the porch collapsed. None of the surrounding buildings were damaged, but 100 Lindley Street had to be evacuated.

Four people were injured–two women jumped from the second-floor window, sustaining neck and back injuries. A third woman ran out the front door and slipped on ice, and a man was disoriented when fire officials helped him get out of the building.

“This is yet another unfortunate fire in our city over the past several days. It’s also another example of our Fire Department and community coming together to ensure the safety of those who are put in harm’s way,” said Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch.

The Greater Bridgeport Transit Authority responded to the scene to help keep those who were evacuated warm.
