GUILFORD–Why watch “American Idol” on an empty stomach when you can be eating some themed ice cream?

Bishop’s Orchards Farm Market & Winery in Guilford is honoring Connecticut-native and “American Idol” winner Nick Fradiani, who grew up in Guilford, by creating “Fradiani Frenzi,” a new ice cream flavor that mixes chocolate and peanut butter–Nick Fradiani’s favorites. Specifically, it is a chocolate ice cream swirled with peanut butter and peanut butter cups.

Bishop’s has been making its own ice cream since the summer of 2014, but this flavor, which was made by the bakery’s ice cream maker, Teresa Kelly, is the best selling yet.

In 2013 Fradiani performed at Bishop’s Orchards 7th Annual Shoreline Wine Festival, and he is friends with many employees, according to a press release from Bishop’s. Also, in 2003 Fradiani sang in a quartet at Bishop’s Orchards with the Guilford High School’s select ensemble, “Voices.”

“The music program in Guilford Public Schools is remarkable, and Bishop’s has been a longtime supporter of the arts to develop the talents of hardworking young adults like Nick,” says Bishop’s Orchards co-owner, Keith Bishop.

Although you may want to support the budding star, you may have to wait in line; the ice cream has sold out two days in a row, just hours after its release. “We sold 36 quarts of ‘Fradiani Frenzy’ in 6 hours, in the dead of winter,” said Bobbi Hallaway, the food and production manager at Bishop’s Orchards. “We have gone through so much ice cream, that production temporarily was on hold in order to refill on ingredients.
