HARTFORD- Tipped workers could see an increase in their minimum wage rate in Connecticut. A bill introduced in the Senate aims to increase the tipped worker minimum wage from $5.78 to $9.15, the state’s full minimum wage.

The bill was introduced by the Labor and Public Employees Committee and is backed by several lawmakers.

A public hearing will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the CT State Legislative Office Building as well as a press conference from ‘One Fair Wage,’ a group which supports improving economic and social well-being for women throughout Connecticut.  About two thirds of the state’s tipped workers are women, and nationally women make up the majority of tipped wage jobs.
