NEW HARTFORD - 2 seventh graders from East Granby who love skiing figured out a way to turn their passion for the slopes into a fundraiser for sick kids.

Ride the chairlift up, come down the mountain on your skis or your board, and do it as many times as you can in a three hour window.

Proceeds from this ski-a-thon going towards the Make-A-Wish foundation. Ski sundown hosting with friends Julia Redfield and Madeline Moore as the organizers.

Julia and Madeline have been friends since the third grade and have always enjoyed ski club. They've also enjoyed success in business with lemonade stands and hot chocolate stands, but this was a new endeavor.

These young philanthropists and their ski club friends might be in the minority of people delighted by the surplus of snow, but their surplus of generosity will add up to delight for Make-A-Wish kids.

The girls raised $1,614.50 at the conclusion of the event, a big jump from their total amount of $225 raised last year.
