FAIRFIELD — Police are asking for help to find someone responsible for an incident involving two dead skunks and anti-Obama messages.

At about 8:40 a.m. on Monday, Fairfield Police received a tip that a dead skunk was nailed to a telephone pole at the corner of Park Avenue and Jackman Avenue.

Police found two dead skunks why they arrived; the first had heavy string on its neck and was nailed about 4 feet up from the ground, while the second was at the base of the pole.

Above the skunks was a poster that read “Obama Stinks” and had an American flag with a hammer and sickle instead of stars. The poster was about 8 inches by 11 inches and was laminated.

The Humane Society of America is offering a $5,000 reward for information on the skunk killings.

Fairfield Police Lt. James Perez said authorities aren’t sure what to make of the sign. The secret service is aware of the incident.

If you have any information please call Fairfield Police at 203-254-4800 or Fairfield Animal Control at 203-254-4857.
