STAMFORD — A teenager is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Willowbrook Avenue Monday evening.

Police say a 17-year-old male was skateboarding southbound on Willowbrook Avenue when a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country  Minivan struck him. The minivan carried the teen before he was ejected onto the sidewalk.

The teen was transported to Stamford Hospital and is now in the Critical Care Unit.

The driver of the minivan continued southbound on Willowbrook before crashing into a stone wall and then a tree. The driver and passenger  fled on foot.

When police got to the scene, two witnesses helped police track down the suspects. Two men were taken into custody close to the crash scene. The driver was identified as Ramon Martinez-Urbina , 28 of Stamford and the passenger was identified as Alejandro Estrada, 20 of Stamford.

Martomez-Urban was charged with assault in the second degree with a motor vehicle, operating under the influence, felony evading responsibility and operating with a suspended driver’s license. He is being held on $500,000 bond and will be arraigned in Stamford Superior Court this morning.

Estra was charged with interference with police and is being held on $25,000 bond. He will also be arraigned today.

The accident is under investigation.
