Vernon police arrest man for sexually assaulting child

VERNON – Police arrested a man Tuesday for sexually abusing a child.

Heriberto Gomez, 30, who is already in custody on child pornography charges, was arrested and charged with ten counts of sexual assault in the first degree, and ten counts of sexual contact with a victim under 16 year of age.

The charges stem from an investigation following a complaint made to the Connecticut Department of Children and Families. Gomez, also know as ‘Pupiro,’ is alleged to have committed the assaults in Vernon when the victim was 11  to 12-years-old.

Gomez was arraigned Tuesday and held on $100,000 bond.

In October 2014 a video of suspected child pornography was shared on the Internet from an account originating from Colon’s home. In December, a search and seizure warrant was executed at his home and computers were seized, leading detectives to find the suspected child porn files.

Colon was  charged a that time with promoting a minor in obscene performance and illegal possession of child porn in the first degree.
