DANBURY — More than 2,200 dental patients may receive a range of free services in Danbury this weekend.

The eighth annual Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic is underway at the O’Neill Center on the Westside Campus of Western Connecticut State University in Danbury. The clinic opened Friday,  March 20 at 6 a.m. and closed its doors after reaching capacity around 1:30 p.m. The clinic will reopen Saturday, March 21 at 6 a.m.

The clinic, which features 136 dental chairs and more than 1,500 volunteers, is made possible by the Connecticut Foundation for Dental Outreach.

Patients of all ages will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.

Services include dental and general health screenings, X-rays, cleanings, fillings, extractions, oral surgery and limited tooth replacement and root canal.

Dr. Bob Schreibman, president of the Connecticut Foundation for Dental Outreach, said the intent is to help as many people as possible and at the least, reduce their dental pain.
