NEW HAVEN- Police arrested Vincent “Guns” Ayala over the weekend and charged him in the murder of Thomas “TJ” Mozell. Mozell was killed on March 17, 2012 at Munson and County Streets in New Haven. TJ was 20 at the time, Vincent was 22.
The three year investigation and its details were discussed Monday morning at the police station. Chief Dean M. Esserman, Department Command Staff, Investigators, Community Leaders and Mozell’s family all attended.
Police said that Mozell was shot in the head and found in the driver’s seat of a car around 9:30 a.m. that day. Police say Ayala was easy to track down because he was already in custody fro violating probation and removing his ankle monitoring bracelet.
“This is a testament to the Detective’s hard work. We do not rest until theses cases are solved. I am pleased we’ve been able to bring justice to Mr. Mozell’s family,” Chief Esserman said.
